Learn about the most common interview questions

There are some basic questions which every interviewer is likely to ask and being prepared for them is of utmost importance if you want to land the job. One of these questions can be, “Tell me about yourself” The ideal answer to this question has to be one that take the interview towards noticing the skills and abilities most suitable for your job. Newbies in professional life may think that it is a way to break the ice but the interviewers hardly need to do that.

Another question which is quite common is “Why do you want to leave your current job?” The answer to this should be a measured one because the interviewers tend to take on an accusing tone when asking this. Do not fall prey to this tactic but instead you should not lose confidence and give a reply along the lines of your job being a great one and that you just wanted better opportunities which you are not able to find in your existing employment.

If you learn the right answers to these typical interview questions, the rest may be easier as they are more to do with your profession. Do not let these most common interview questions which test your behavior bring you down in the job market.

Wear the right dress to an interview

Most people tend to form an opinion about you in the first few seconds of their meeting with you. Although it is true that a major part of it is due to your body language, i.e. how you greeted “hello” your handshake, the stance when you stand, etc. but what you wear is no less important in determining their decision of you. This is why you must learn about how to dress for an interview so that the first good impression that the employer has of you is the one that lasts.

The thumb rule about choosing your clothes when deciding what to wear for an interview should be to dress one step ahead of what you are expected to wear. In other words, men should go for full dark suit with white shirt instead of coordinates. In case of women, either skirt suit or pants suit would do. You should bear in mind that the dress should look professional and yet be comfortable.

There is a difference between comfortable and “comfy” which you should not forget. The latter implies being sloppy about dressing which may be taken to be too relaxed an attitude to be any good for the job.

Moreover, your soul searching on how to dress for an interview should not end with the dress alone. You need to take care of your accessories too, in particular shoes. It is fitting for an interview if men wear clean black formal leather shoes that go with the rest of their attire. Women should stick to low heels and closed toes. Never make the mistake of wearing sports or tennis shoes to an interview.
